2013 Favorites

Wearing | Kohl's shirt // Old Navy sweater // Walmart vest //
Rue 21 necklace // Kohl's leggings // Kate Spade purse // Kohl's boots

Happy New Years Eve! For my NYE daytime outfit, I decided to try to fit in as many of my favorites from 2013 as possible. I've got the layered collared shirt, a statement necklace, leggings, boots, my kate spade purse, and of course my herringbone vest. If that's not considered "trendy" overload, I don't know what is. What has been one of your favorite looks of 2013?

For NYE night, I have a totally different look planned that includes more 2013 trends--sequins, statement jewelry, and tights.

Happy New Year!

Reindeer Sweater

Wearing | OASAP sweater // Kohl's leggings // Kohl's scarf // Macy's boots // Phillip Lim for Target Purse

I had a hard time finding a photographer today, but luckily my boyfriend stopped by on his way to work for this 5 minute photo shoot. Despite the rush, I think they turned out nicely! I tried a new lens on my new camera today and it does a pretty good job with the blurred background effect that I'm obsessed with. Yay!

Anyway, I thought I knew what I was going to wear today until this sweater came in the mail. I tore it open, tried it on, and changed everything else about my outfit to fit this sweater. You could say I like it a little bit. (Even though my mom said I look like Bill Cosby.) I would have worn it on Christmas, but it didn't show up until today. Sad face. Oh well, it's still reindeer sweater season if you ask me. :)

Purple on Purple

So I was just saying the other day how much I love the color purple, and I think I finally proved it with this post. I'm wearing a purple shirt with a purple bubble necklace. I actually received the necklace in the mail by mistake, as I ordered a pearl bubble necklace but received this one (they're sending me the right one and let me keep the wrong one. yay!). It's that perfect "radiant orchid" color I've talked so much about.

In other news, I got a new camera! It's a Nikon D3100. I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I'm learning! I really just want to get really good at making the background blurry. My best friend, Jordan, took these pictures for me today using the new camera, and I think it has made a difference so far!*

This sweater is the perfect I-ate-way-too-much-over-the-holidays top. It fits loosely and has a pleated back. Basically is warm, comfy, and hides muffin top. I love it! Everyone needs a top like this around this time of year... Am I right? Sigh.

Classic Tweed

You may remember me mentioning a tweed skirt in my haul post... This is it! I am so in love with it. It has a slight pattern on it that you can't really see here. I should have gotten an up-close photo of it. I've been looking for a tweed skirt for a while now, so I'm so happy to have finally gotten my hands on one! I picked it up the other day at TJ Maxx on clearance for $15. It was the only one on clearance and it just happened to be my size. It's also the perfect length for my petite frame. It was clearly meant to be.

Do you ever love your outfit so much that it makes you have a better day? That's how I felt about this outfit today. I'm usually a little grumpy when I have to work all day, but I felt so professional and stylish all day that my good mood could not be broken. I mean, I love this outfit so much that I look my coat off in 20 degree weather to get good pictures of it. Now that is love.

Can we take a minute to talk about how amazing tights are? I'm so glad they're back in style. I mean, I'm not really sure if they were ever not in style, but for the longest time I rarely wore them. Maybe I'm glad that I've finally opened my eyes to their stylishness, I don't know. All i know is I want need MORE. Every color.

Snowy Weather

I felt the need to take a selfie. Don't judge.

It's been snowing a lot more than usual in Kentucky this week. I have a love/hate relationship with snow. I hate driving in it, but I love looking at it. I loved snow when I was a kid, but it's not quite as fun when you're an adult because a.) college classes are cancelled VERY rarely and b.) work is pretty much NEVER cancelled. On the bright side, snow means its cold enough to wear my Walmart vest that looks super similar to J. Crew's herringbone vest. My necklace is another J. Crew dupe that I picked up on eBay for $10, as I explained in my last post. As much as I love J. Crew, I tend to get their look for less from other places. Who doesn't love a deal?

Fall/Winter Haul

I wanted to do my very first haul video tonight, but unfortunately the lighting in my room is just too dark! Next time I'll have to orchestrate something during daylight hours. In the mean time, I still couldn't wait to share with you guys some new pieces I've picked over the past few weeks at random sales, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and a random trip to TJ Maxx I took today!

First Row:
Old Navy Fox Sweater. I love this sweater! My absolute favorite fall color is cognac, and this sweater is a great shade of that color. It's perfect to wear with boots, and I plan to layer a collared button up underneath with a statement necklace on top. I got it during a 30% off sale so I think it ended up being about $18--not bad!
Forever 21 Chunky Waffle Knit Sweater. This sweater was an amazing deal on Black Friday. Forever 21 had 50% final sale items, so I think I ended up paying about $5 for this item. It's a gorgeous red violet color, and it fits a little loosely so it's very comfortable and warm.
Forever 21 Ombre Striped Top. This top is another steal I got on Black Friday for $4! It's my first "ombre" type top so I'm super excited about that. It fits loosely so it's another top that I can see being a cozy go-to type thing. I plan to add a statement necklace to it when I wear it.

Second Row:
LC Lauren Conrad Pleated Bow Top. I am in LOVE with this top. I actually picked it up a few weeks ago, but I have yet to wear it on the blog. It fits loosely which as you can see is something I love. I didn't buy it the first time I saw it but immediately regretted it and got it the next time I was at Kohl's. I had a 30% coupon so it only ended up being about $22!
Forever 21 Southwestern Pattern Top. Got this on Black Friday for $4. It fits VERY loosely and is kind of short (which I didn't realize when I bought it), but I still think I'll be able to find a way to wear it. Paired with some leggings it should look pretty cute. For that price I couldn't pass it up!

Third Row:
Joie Silk Blouse. I am SO excited about this blouse. I found it tonight on the clearance rack at TJ Maxx for $25! For me, $25 is still a little much for a shirt, but this one is 100% silk and just so pretty! It was originally $228 so I think I got a deal.
Joe Fresh for JC Penney's Sequin Skirt. This dupe of J. Crew's sequin sweater is a GREAT alternative if you're looking to spend $20 rather than $100+. It's a little shorter than I would like it to be, but as long as I wear tights it shouldn't really bother me. I'm so excited to wear it to events and parties over the holidays!

Fourth Row:
Elle Embellished Sweater. Another J. Crew dupe! I got this one for about $25 thanks to some great Kohl's coupons. They also have it in black and white and I'm really considering going back and getting another. It's really comfortable and gorgeous!
SO Plaid Button Up. I picked this one up at Kohl's a while back for about $20. I've been loving all the hunter green and navy plaids I've been seeing this season, so I just had to buy this when I saw it! It looks great with my navy skirt or with jeans and a bright pink bubble necklace.

Fifth & Sixth Row:
Pearl Necklace. It's no secret that I'm obsessed with buying jewelry on eBay (my friends and family would tell you that I have a problem). BUT, before you judge, let me tell you how much I paid for this beauty. $3.84. Can you see why I'm addicted?! I love getting my baubles for cheap because I know I won't wear them for long as trends change.
Layered Circle Necklace. I've been eying the J. Crew version of this for forever, so when i saw it on eBay, I had to get it! I paid $12.99 for this one, which is still more than I usually like to pay, but I really wanted it so I went ahead and got it. I'm so glad! It just came in the mail today and I can't wait to style it.
"Venus Flytrap" Necklace. Another J. Crew dupe! I paid $10.00 for this one. I may or may not have set an alarm for the middle of the night so I could bid on this on eBay... I love it because it's not "too much" and I can wear it with literally anything.
Clear/Tortoise Shell Necklace. I'm not actually sure if this is a J. Crew dupe or not--I think it may be a Bauble Bar dupe. I actually saw it on my Instagram feed and I knew I HAD to have it! I found it on my beloved eBay and won it in an auction for $7.75. The tortoise detailing is my weakness--perfect for fall/winter!

That's it! Okay, to tell the truth, I have purchased a few more things that I didn't mention here, only because I couldn't find a stock photo of them to share with you. I've got another adorable Forever 21 blouse, a black long-sleeve tee with tan elbow patches, and a tweed skirt from The Limited that should appear on the blog sometime in the near future.

Color Crush: Purple

As much as I would love to post an outfit post of my own today, the weather here just won't permit it. There's currently about 10 tons of ice falling from the sky, so... I'm thinking my hunters and Vera Bradley umbrella from the other day's won't cut it (and we all know indoor lighting just isn't the same).

So instead, I want to share with you my current obsession. I am loving the color purple. This is a good thing too, since apparently the Pantone color of the year for 2014 is a gorgeous shade of purple called "Radiant Orchid." I'm excited to say the least!

I am especially in love with that Vera Bradley tote in the pattern "Heather," but it's unfortunately sold out online. I hope they restock it because it's just perfect!

What color are you loving for the coming year?
