Stripes and a Pop of Pink

I had an unexpected visitor during today's photo taking. He wouldn't look at the camera.
I was clearly lacking in the "creative poses" department today, but I really like my outfit so I'm going to make you look at 6 photos of the exact same stance anyway. I've wanted to wear this skirt so many times lately, and I'm so glad I finally wore it! It was actually a dress originally that I refashioned into a skirt with my handy dandy seam ripper. (Literally all I did was separate the seam from the skirt part and the top part. Super easy, even I could do it!) It originally had a black top part, but how boring is that? I knew this skirt would have so much more to offer by being paired with something colorful and bright.

My boyfriend's dog, Maverick, gave it his approval too. :)

Turquoise Accessories

It was finally warm enough to take blog pictures today! 40 degrees. The past few days in Kentucky, the temperature has been 0 with wind chills of -20. As much as I love blogging, I'm not about to stand outside in that kind of weather and pose (and I kind of have a thing against indoor photos).

Since 40 degrees is like a heatwave to me now, I decided I'd wear a bright springy necklace and matching bright shoes. I love adding a pop of color to my outfits, and statement necklaces and shoes are an easy way to do so. Plus, who doesn't love turquoise?!

Jeweled Sweaters

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my post today about the fantastic package I received from J. Crew in the mail today. I. Am. In. Love. I got this sweater and the jeweled llama sweater, and I could not be happier with my purchases. J. Crew is generally out of my price range, but both sweaters were on sale and then 40% off on top of that, so it wasn't as bad as it normally is. Christmas money well spent (insert smiling emoji with hearts for eyes).

Cozy Sweaters and Scarves

The gorgeous cobalt blue color of my shoes makes me so happy! They were an absolute steal on the clearance rack at Kohl's--$9.99 plus 20% off. I finally got to break them out today with my cozy gap scarf. Even though I was standing outside in 20 degree weather and there was snow on the ground, I wasn't that cold thanks to this baby! It's so warm. Now all I need is a Zara blanket scarf and my scarf collection will be complete. (But seriously... if you see a Zara blanket scarf... CONTACT ME! I'm obsessed.)

Also--I'm doing the 2014 closet remix challenge for the month of January! No new clothes, shoes, or accessories are going to be purchased for the entire month. Okay, I'm actually giving myself 2 or 3 little "cheats," but only for things I really want. For example, a Zara blanket scarf. If those come back in stock you better BELIEVE I'm breaking the rules. Seriously though, other than that, I'm limiting myself to using Christmas gift cards if I see something I just HAVE to have. Other than that, no shopping for me! I can do this. I have tons and tons of things I've never even worn, and I have a few things I ordered in December that aren't here yet (haha! I'm a trickster like that), so it shouldn't be bad at all. Only good things will come out of this, especially for my bank account.

You can follow along the 2014 closet remix challenge on Instagram! Just search the hashtag #closetremixchallenge to see what other bloggers and I are doing to keep the inspiration going.
